BANGUI WINDMILLS BANGUI ILOCOS NORTE

The windmills supply 40% of the electricity in the province. Though it was raining like there was a typhoon when we got here, it didn't stop us from taking our pictures. The clouds were dark and gray but the windmills were still a magnificent sight and a spectacular background. Ms. Lorraine Rafols of Cruising Magazine wrote in her article, "The giant contraptions look almost 'alien-like' in the agricultural town". That was how the windmills impressed me, too.

These windmills are great to look at, a stark difference from the unattractive black sand beaches of Bangui . The hotel owners in Pagudpud have surprising opnions regarding the real purpose behind the construction of these windmills. Whether or not these windmills are really helping out in the production of electricity in the province is indeed, still a big question mark - depending on who you ask.
