"BRIEF HISTORY OF MARCOS ILOCOS NORTE"
Before Marcos came into reality, it was formerly a part of Dingras. It
only came into reality by virtue of republic Act No. 3753, authored by the
Ex-congressman of the Second District of the Province of Ilocos Norte,
Ex-Congressman Simeon M. Valdez and was finally approved on January 28, 1963.
Marcos was named after the late Assemblyman Don Mariano Marcos, the father of
the late President Ferdinand E. Marcos. It was formally separated from it’s
mother Municipality on September 11, 1963 which coincided with the birth date of
the President of the Republic of the
The Local Executive is pioneered by an appointee in the
person of Mr. Jose T. Baoit. When there was an election in December 1963, Mr.
Jose T. Baoit was defeated by Mr. Primitivo Peralta and held his office from
1964-1967. During the election in 1967, Mr. Primitivo Peralta was defeated by
Atty. Anselmo B. Mabuti Sr. and held his office from 1967-1947 elections; Atty.
Anselmo Mabuti Sr. was succeeded by the elected vice-mayor in the person of Mr.
Maximo M. Tabucbuc and held is office from 1974 to 1986. After the presidential
snap election Eng’r. Buenaventura L. Peralta was appointed as the Officer
In-Charge and held his office from 1986 to October 1987, succeeded by Atty.
Anselmo B. Mabuti, Sr. from October to December 1987, further succeeded by Mr.
Severino Guillermo from December 1998 to June 30, 1988. Finally as a result of
the January 18, 1988 election, Hon. Felecito S. Tamayo won and assumed his
office on July 1, 1988. In the May 1992 National Election, Hon. Felicito S.
Tamayo was re-elected thus continued holding his office after taking his outh on
June 30, 1992 up to the present active and kind Municipal Mayor of Marcos,
Ilocos Norte.
